Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the brokerage to NRT for $66 million. Then, shortly after she left the company. Corcoran has been a part of 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. As of February 2020, she has made 53 deals with the show, with the most significant one being $350,000 in 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran is the second child of 10 from a Catholic family with a low-income, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey.  Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced between jobs throughout Corcoran's childhood. At times, the family depended on free food delivery from a friendly local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father, who was a drunk at times too much and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed a few drinks. Corcoran was struggling in school, and she discovered later that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at an Catholic elementary school in her community and started high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
